FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers to the questions I get most often.
General
Both. For larger companies and scale-ups I am happy to visit in person. For small businesses and sole traders we work well remotely via video-call and email. My base is Twente, but I work for clients across the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany.
A website in the template tier starts from €1,950 one-off. All other disciplines and tiers are on request, because every situation is different. Book a call and you will get a concrete quote with no hidden costs.
First an introductory call to clarify scope and requirements. Then I send a quote within three business days. On approval you pay 50% as a setup fee. The remaining 50% follows on delivery. No surprises along the way.
No, I work solo. No account manager who does not know what is happening, no subcontractors without your knowledge. You email the person who builds your project. If I bring in a specialist, I discuss that with you beforehand.
14 days after invoice date. With annual payment you receive 10% off the monthly rate. Hour-cards are valid for 12 months from purchase.
Minimum contract is 12 months, then monthly cancellable with one month notice. On cancellation you get a full export at no charge: Git repo, database backup, and all uploads. No lock-in.
Web
Static is a clean presentation page without a CMS, ideal for simple showcases. Template gives you a full CMS admin panel to manage content yourself. Custom is a tailor-made Next.js application for specific functionality or larger scope. Scope and deliverables determine which tier fits, not a fixed schedule.
My own CMS built on Next.js and connected to a PostgreSQL database. Fully custom, no third-party plugins that can break, and the admin interface fits your content structure.
Hosting is included with every tier. I run on Hetzner in Germany: own VPS, SSL via Traefik, daily backups, 24/7 uptime monitoring. You do not need to arrange anything yourself.
No. I build custom Next.js. WordPress is suitable for specific use-cases, but for performance, security and maintainability I deliberately choose my own stack. For WordPress you are better off with a specialist.
Your code is always yours. On request you get a full export: Git repository, database dump and uploads. Migration to another environment is billed hourly. No lock-in, no hidden exit costs.
Yes. I work with React Three Fiber for 3D elements and Framer Motion for animations. Think interactive product presentations, scroll animations or a differentiated hero section. This falls under custom scope.
Shop
My specialty is Magento 2. I also provide Shopify advice and build custom Next.js shops as a headless frontend. For small webshops with standard needs Shopify is often the smarter choice. For complex catalogues and B2B I stay with Magento.
Mobile 50 to 65 in a lab environment is good for Magento. That sounds low, but Magento runs a lot of server-side logic. CrUX (real user data from Google) is the source of truth, not the lab score. I optimise for CrUX, not lab numbers.
Yes. Magento as backend with a Next.js frontend is a serious option for shops that want maximum performance and flexibility. The business case needs to work: headless is more effort at the start but gives a lot of freedom on the frontend.
It depends on shop size. A smaller Magento shop with limited extensions is different from a catalogue with hundreds of configurable products and custom modules. After an initial conversation I can estimate what the scope involves.
Yes. Hyvä is my preferred frontend for Magento when you do not want headless. It is significantly faster than Luma or many other themes, and it works well with my performance approach.
Yes. Shop projects differ too much in scope for a catalogue price. A performance audit is different from a headless rebuild or a Hyvä migration. Book a call for a concrete estimate.
AI
Claude (Anthropic), OpenAI OpenAI's latest model of OpenAI's latest model, and local Llama models when data sovereignty is required. Model choice depends on the use-case: Claude performs well on instruction following and document processing, OpenAI on broad general knowledge, local models for privacy-sensitive environments.
Processing personal data via external APIs carries risk. I help set up data minimisation, pseudonymisation and data processing agreements. For environments where no data may leave to external servers, I work with on-premise or local models.
Both, depending on what fits. n8n is fast for standard integrations and automations. For complex business logic, custom API connections or scalable workflows I prefer building from scratch. I give honest advice on which approach is cheaper and more stable long-term.
I do not build marketing chatbots without a clear business case. No AI solutions that only impress but do not solve a real problem. If the ROI does not add up, I say so upfront.
Yes. For clients who cannot use the standard OpenAI API for compliance reasons, Azure OpenAI is a good option. Data then stays in Microsoft European datacentres.
Yes. For environments with strict data sovereignty or limited internet connectivity I can deploy local models via Ollama or similar tooling. Suitable for medical, legal or industrial environments. Pricing on request.
