What a detailing website actually needs to do
A detailing site has a different job than a standard business website. Visitors do not come for a list of services. They want to see the result: gleaming paint, clean rims, a cabin that looks brand new. The photos and videos are the sales argument. The text builds trust and the call to action closes the booking.
That means the technical side needs to be exactly right. Large images load fast through WebP compression and lazy loading. The portfolio is organised clearly by service or vehicle type. The booking button is reachable from every page. And in Google the site ranks high enough that customers in your city can actually find you.
I build these sites myself: no subcontracted freelancer, no renamed template. I know the industry because I built T&H Car Care, a detailing business in Twente with a custom Next.js platform including a 3D hero, booking system and a webshop for detailing products.
Before/after photography: strategy and technique
Detailing lives on the visual transformation. A slider that shows before and after on the same image is effective, but only if the images are delivered correctly. I take care of:
- ▸WebP conversion with JPEG fallback on older browsers, so large photos load fast on mobile
- ▸Lazy loading outside the viewport: the page feels instant even with dozens of portfolio items
- ▸Fixed aspect ratios per card so there is no layout shift during image load
- ▸Before/after slider as an interactive component or as two images side by side, depending on the design intent
- ▸Alt texts with location and service name for additional SEO value per photo
Photography is your strongest marketing tool. The site needs to present those photos so they do the selling.
Custom versus a template: what suits detailing?
There are cheap WordPress templates specifically for car detailing. They look good in a screenshot. In practice they load slowly, images are not optimised and every competitor looks the same. For a business positioning itself as premium that is a problem.
Custom does not mean everything is built from scratch. I use Next.js as the foundation, a framework used by tens of thousands of companies for fast, scalable websites. On top of that foundation I build a design that fits your brand: your own colour palette, your own typography, your own section layout.
The difference shows up in Lighthouse scores, load times and the first impression a new visitor gets. T&H Car Care scores a Lighthouse 98 with an LCP under 1 second. That is the difference between a site that converts and one that sends visitors away.

T&H Car Care: built from scratch with 3D hero, booking and webshop
T&H Car Care is a detailing business in Twente. No existing site, no template as a starting point: I built their digital platform fully custom on Next.js. The result is a site that reflects their premium positioning and performs technically as well.
The site includes a 3D hero animation that captures attention the moment you arrive, a booking system for appointments, a webshop where customers can order detailing products and a photo portfolio showing before/after results. Everything was built with local SEO in mind, targeting searches in Twente and the surrounding area.
3D hero, booking, webshop and portfolio on a platform the client manages themselves. No third party needed for content changes, no monthly licence fees for features that are already built in.

A detailing customer would rather book directly online than fill out a form that gets answered the next day. Depending on scale and budget there are several options:
- ▸Calendly or Acuity Scheduling embedded as a widget: quick to set up, works immediately, no extra development cost
- ▸Custom booking form with email confirmation and notification to you: more control over the flow, no monthly fees for an external tool
- ▸Stripe integration for a deposit at booking: protects you against no-shows on higher-value treatments
- ▸Calendar combined with vehicle information: the customer provides make, model and plate so you are prepared
The best fit depends on how many bookings you handle per month and how flexible your schedule is. I help you choose and build the integration so it feels like part of the site rather than a disconnected external system.
Webshop for detailing products: extra revenue alongside your services
Some detailing businesses sell products alongside their services: car wash, polish, ceramic coating, microfibre cloths. A webshop on your own domain is the logical step. You do not need Bol.com or Amazon and you keep the full margin.
I build webshops on Next.js with Stripe for payment, straightforward product management and shipping cost logic you set yourself. T&H Car Care already runs this. If you are having a site built, a webshop is easy to include in the same project. Only a webshop? That works as a standalone project too.

The 3D hero of T&H Car Care is not a gimmick. It communicates within three seconds that this business is not average. For a detailing company positioning itself as premium that difference is worth it. Visitors remember the site, share it more readily and convert faster.
Not every detailing business needs a 3D hero. If you operate locally, have no budget for a large production site and simply want to book appointments, a clean, fast and well-photographed portfolio site is entirely sufficient. I build what suits you, not the most technically impressive thing that exists.
Local SEO for detailing businesses
Detailing customers search locally. 'Car detailing Enschede', 'ceramic coating Almelo', 'paint protection Twente'. If you are not found for those terms, you book less than the competitor who has sorted that out.
- ▸Each service gets its own page with location-specific keywords
- ▸Google Business Profile set up correctly with category, services, photos and opening hours
- ▸Schema.org LocalBusiness markup so Google understands your location, phone number and opening hours
- ▸Customer reviews displayed prominently rather than hidden
- ▸Page titles and meta descriptions targeting the search queries your audience actually types
Local SEO is not a one-off action but a foundation I set up correctly from the start. A site that is technically sound, loads fast and targets the right keywords ranks structurally better than one that gets SEO plugins added later.
